The Peconic Land Trust is excited to have worked on over 500 projects on Long Island since 1983. Nearly 14,000 conserved acres have resulted from partnering with donors, landowners, municipalities, other organizations, and local communities. These lands include working farms, meadows, woodland, dunes, and wetlands.

Recent Conservation

Thanks to the support of over 25 neighbors, the Trust acquired a small, but ecologically important woodland parcel in Southold.

The Peconic Land Trust acquired 29.8 acres adjacent to the Wolf Preserve on the Great Hog Neck Peninsula. This increased the protected area to over 50 acres that will now be available for passive recreation, while also providing climate change resiliency, wildlife habitat, and groundwater protection.
Thanks to a generous donation by Katharine Rayner, the Peconic Land Trust has acquired and begun remediation and restoration of this 1.4 acre property along Georgica Pond.

Edwards Farm and Townsend Memorial Overlook allowed for the permanent protection of 21 acres of farmland, woodlands, and wetlands in Orient. The farmland is currently leased to a flower farmer.
