Our Memorials at Preserves program gives you the opportunity to commemorate a special someone or event at various protected Trust properties on Long Island. Additionally, your gift will enable the Trust to continue stewarding and monitoring the 1,650 acres of preserves in our care throughout the East End.
Where?
There are several locations available in the towns of East Hampton, Shelter Island, Southampton, and Southold where the Trust will install benches, kiosks, and interpretative signs. Commemorative plaques can be created and installed on some of these structures.
How?
Upon receipt of a $10,000 gift to support this program, the donor will be acknowledged with a personalized plaque on the available structure of their choice. If you are interested in participating, please contact Amanda Abraham, Director of Development, at AAbraham@PeconicLandTrust.org or call 631-283-3195 ext. 120. She will be happy to speak with you about reserving one of the available location and structure options.
The Fine Print
The Trust will purchase, install, maintain, and repair the structure and plaque for their natural lifetime. The structure will be removed when it becomes unsafe or if it is vandalized in a manner that makes it visually unacceptable. The Trust anticipates that the structures will have at least a ten-year lifetime; however, the Trust cannot guarantee against the effects of weather, vandalism, or theft. If and when the structure bearing your acknowledgement plaque is removed, you will be notified at the time of removal. You may choose to make an additional donation to replace the structure and plaque at that time.
Structures identified for adoption will be reserved for one year following full receipt of gift. If a proposed inscription is not received within this time, the selected structure and location will be released from hold, and if unavailable at the time we receive your inscription, we will work with you to find an alternate structure.
The Peconic Land Trust, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to reject any proposed inscription containing language that is obscene, lewd, defamatory or is otherwise inappropriate. The Trust must approve the style and design of all memorials and will include Trust branding as per our style guidelines.
