Jim and Ann Barry at Through Farms and Fields in 2016 at Quail Hill Farm, Amagansett

“I took an elective in college senior year on urban geography.  I thought it would be unexciting, but it turned out to be life changing.  I learned about how cities are structured, the importance of building density, and the often uncontrolled expansion of urban areas.  What I learned in that class has stayed with me — we are losing our open space and failing to conserve our beautiful natural lands and our nourishing local agriculture.

“I support the Trust through my annual gift to Through Farms and Fields because they fight against over development on the East End.  They also work to preserve the economic value of farmland so that a farmer can make a living instead of losing the land to more homes.  This creates opportunities that would otherwise not be available to new and existing farmers.  I am grateful for all the Trust does for the East End, and we enjoy attending your summer fundraiser!
