Our journey to becoming supporters of Peconic Land Trust began in August of 2002 when we rented a small farmhouse in Wainscott as I recuperated from a recent surgery. Daily walks down Beach Lane passing by Babinski Farm, kayaking on Sagg Pond, family beach days and visits to farm stands ended with the purchase of our home in Bridgehampton.

Shortly thereafter, we were introduced to the Trust by the late Pedro Galban. Pedro was a colleague of Rob’s who extolled the virtues of the Trust’s work and encouraged us to attend our first Through Farms and Fields event at Ocean View Farm in Bridgehampton. Learning about the conservation work of the Trust and its successful projects was inspiring. We love the natural beauty of the beaches, the variety of wildlife and the abundance of farms that make the East End such a special place. We have been committed donors ever since.

To us, conservation means helping to protect the natural beauty of the East End from overdevelopment and the effects that we as humans have on the flora and fauna that is indigenous to the area. We feel blessed to have had the opportunity to enjoy this beauty for the past 20 years and would like to be a part of ensuring that it will remain a wonderful place for our children and the generations to come.

We are always encouraged by the work that the Trust is doing and the creativity that is employed to ensure that important parcels of land will be preserved in their natural state. The health of our waterways, beaches and wildlife requires that we all do our part as stewards of the land. Supporting the Trust helps us to ensure that their work will continue to conserve and protect what will always be a very special place for our family.

We are thankful to Carolyn and Rob Brennan for sharing their story with us. The funds raised from Through Farms and Fields support our Farms for the Future Initiative – connecting farmers to the land and providing food to our communities – and our stewardship activities that make our trails, garden and nature preserves welcoming and accessible to our visitors.
