Along Meadow Lane in the Village of Southampton, the northern shoreline has an amazing sanctuary, Munn Point. It’s here that Andrew L. Shapiro recorded a music video this summer, I’ll Melt with You.
“The video is a love letter to the natural beauty of the area – the shimmering water, the regal osprey nests, the astonishing light and sunsets. I hope it will inspire people to preserve spaces like this and join me in supporting organizations including the Peconic Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy.”
Andrew L. Shapiro
The preserve is named for Orson Munn, a Southampton Village Trustee from 1967 to 1986 who was instrumental in creating a number of public parks in the village.
We thank Andrew for the shout out and the confidence in our work to protect the places we know and love on Long Island. Hopefully the song and video will inspire many to choose conservation.
While we were not involved in the preservation of Munn Point, the Trust has been involved in conservation in the area, including our Lehman Preserve just to the west of Munn Point as well as the Dune Road I & II and Conason Preserves at the western end of Meadow Lane overlooking the Bay.
And just past these preserves, on the oceanfront, the Trust acquired and then conveyed to the Village a 5-acre parcel in the late 1990s. This oceanfront park, as well as Munn Point, have limited parking for the public (in the summer season these parking areas are restricted by village permit). Visit our Places to Visit page for more information.
This fall and winter, take some time to visit and experience firsthand the beautiful vistas in Andrew’s video!
