One morning this month, Sachem North High School students left their desks behind to get out in nature. They joined us at the South Street Preserve in Manorville to clean up rubbish left in the woods. Filling trash bags full of bottles, tarps, and wrappers was a change of pace for this Student Leadership class led by social studies teacher Lindsey Caggiano.

Altogether, they removed 13 bags of trash, plus tires and lawn chairs! Thanks to their help, the preserve is a safer space for the animals that call it home.
