We are so proud to announce that Autumn Rose Miskweminanocsqua (Raspberry Star Woman) Williams, who joined the Trust staff in April of this year, was crowned Miss Native American USA on August 26 in Mesa, Arizona — the 6th anniversary of this national pageant.

A member of the Shinnecock Nation, Autumn’s platform is to spread the message of indigenous women’s empowerment, focused on identity, connection to culture, balancing tribal societal values and American societal values and encouraging one another. Autumn graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Mass Communications.

Join us in congratulating Autumn on this wonderful honor!

The Southampton Press did a lovely story on Autumn — who also led the Grand Entry at the 71st Shinnecock Powwow, held over Labor Day weekend. You can read it here, and check out her video on Empowerment below!
