Natural History of Broad Cove, a Nature Paddle
Cancelled due to weather.
Bring your own kayak for a guided paddle of the waters off Broad Cove, a pristine 100-acre woodland on Flanders Bay. This tour will focus on the natural history and story of this property, one of the largest former duck farms from the early 1900s. Led by local birders Nancy Gilbert and Richard Wines, you’ll explore the western shoreline up through Terry’s Creek as well as the areas once inhabited by ducks. Its recent conservation by the Peconic Land Trust protects the fragile Peconic Estuary ecosystem and will soon be accessible for woodland trail exploration.
$20/person. Space is limited, reservations are required. Bring your own kayak or canoe and water bottle.
Please note: PFDs with water safety whistles are required to launch. Rain cancels.
We're celebrating the Peconic Land Trust's 40th anniversary in 2023! Themed "40 for 40," our Connections activities will bring you to 40 special places whose conservation has had an impact.
