Tucked away in a back field at the farm is an unusual project begun in 2003: a Chinese medicinal herb garden. This is a trial of growing herbs predominantly imported from China, herbs used by twenty thousand medical practitioners throughout the country. Scott Chaskey, retired from active farming, is privileged to learn from these plants—now over thirty species—descended from seed collected in China and Boston’s Arnold Arboretum. You will take a walk through the fields with Scott and be introduced to plants both familiar and “exotic:” Platycodon grandifloras (Balloon flower), Belamcanda chinensis (Blackberry lily), Albizia julibrissin (Mimosa)…and dozens more!

Space is limited, reservations required. Closed toe, sturdy shoes recommended for the walk. Rain cancels.
