Conservation News

At the end of October, the Trust sold 1.33 acres along Conscience Bay in East Setauket to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This will assure the protection of wildlife habitation and waterfront views on Dyke Road, as well as shoreline stabilization.

On May 31, 2022 the Trust pre-acquired the property as part of a conservation initiative to protect this last scenic vista in the area. This additional parcel is part of 16 acres of land along Dyke Road that is now protected by the DEC located between Conscience and Little Bays. The Trust, as a partner with the DEC, pre-acquired 5.55 acres of this assemblage all of which increases the existing 52-acre Conscience Bay-Little Bay State Tidal Wetland Area.
