Great Tomato Taste-Off | 2024 Winners

Here is a list of the 15 top rated tomatoes at Quail Hill Farm’s 17th annual Great Tomato Taste-Off, held on Saturday, August 31.

The two top ranking tomatoes were no surprise, #1 barely edging out #2.

#1 Matt’s Wild Cherry (red cherry)

#2 Sungold (orange cherry)

#3 Glacier (red) — a big surprise as reds rarely, if ever, rank in the top 5.

#4 Black Zebra* (purple cherry). The asterisk indicates that, this year, this tomato was grown for the first time at Quail Hil Farm.

The remaining tomatoes below pretty much scored within points of each other.

#5 Chocolate Stripes* (purple)

#6 Green Zebra (green)

#7 Pink Brandywine (pink)

#8 Tiffen Mennonite* (pink)

Basically tying were these three yellows:

#9 Lemon Boy (yellow)

#10 Mountain Spirit* (yellow)

#11 Striped German (yellow)

As were these two cherries:

#12 Super Sweet 100 (red cherry)

#13 White Cherry (pale yellow cherry)

#14 Mountain Merit* (red)

#15 Verona* (red paste)
