Quincy Hammond Finds Inspiration on the East End

“The East End inspires me! As a landscape designer, I am fortunate to work in some of the most beautiful places on earth - and one of my favorites is the East End. I love the aesthetic juxtaposition between the agricultural fields and the coastal landscapes, not to mention the twisty, huge, old trees. It reminds me of my childhood growing up in rural Georgia, a deeply agricultural area.

“My work takes me to many locations, and I sometimes get so focused on one site that I lose the larger environmental context. So I give back to causes I believe in, including the Peconic Land Trust, through 1% for the Planet”

“The work of the Peconic Land Trust also inspires me. To me, conservation is about valuing what’s left and making wise decisions moving forward. I was fortunate to work with John Halsey on a project years ago - his commitment to the East End landscape has stayed with me.

“My work takes me to many locations, and I sometimes get so focused on one site that I lose the larger environmental context. So I give back to causes I believe in, including the Peconic Land Trust, through 1% for the Planet. This global network of businesses, non-profits, and individuals is committed to working together for a healthy planet. I pledged to donate a percentage of my business revenue back to the communities and environments I serve. It keeps me aware of the impact I am having on an area as a whole, beyond the property lines of any one site.

“Thank you for inspiring me, Peconic Land Trust!”
