Privacy Policy

The Peconic Land Trust (the Trust) is committed to protecting your privacy. The information below covers what information the Trust collects through various methods—including its website, at events and programs, and through the mail – when individuals make a donation or payment, and how we use it. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us via e-mail at info@PeconicLandTrust.org, phone at 631-283-3195 or by mail at P.O. Box 1776, Southampton, NY 11969.

What Information Do We Collect?

The Peconic Land Trust collects information volunteered by individuals, such as answers to survey questions, information collected when downloading or requesting publications and information collected when contacting us for conservation assistance or when registering for events. Information the Trust collects includes personally identifiable information (for example, name, address, e-mail, and phone number), information about organizational affiliations, and information about your conservation interests. No information is collected about individuals without their knowledge. The Trust also collects aggregate information about website use, such as what pages and sections are most popular with users (using server-side cookies), without identifying personal information.

How Is This Information Used By The Trust?

The Trust uses the information you voluntarily provide to help us decide what website content, publications, e-mails, and other Trust information would most help you meet your conservation goals and to shape our educational programs, special events, information brochures and materials, web content, and e-mail outreach. The Trust may also contact you to alert you about a conservation opportunity in your area or to ask you to support our work. The Trust uses aggregate information about website usage to shape website content.

Sharing Information With Third Parties

The Trust shares aggregate information about our supporters, web users, and web usage with the Trust contractors who help us shape our content to our supporters’ interests and otherwise improve our communications with our supporters – via Internet, direct mail, or other communications methods. The Trust does not make our supporters lists (e-mail, mail, or phone) available to third parties.

E-Mail Policy

The Trust provides forms on its website where users can sign up to receive e-mail publications and e-mail notices and information about conservation topics. No one is placed on a regular e-mail list who has not requested subscription through these forms or in some other manner. Users can unsubscribe from any e-mail list on the registration section of our website or through the unsubscribe link on any e-mail we send you. As new e-mail publications are developed, users may be sent an invitation to subscribe.

Mail Policy

The Trust receives information from a variety of publicly available lists, as well as information submitted voluntarily through multiple communication channels, of prospects for future support to the Trust. The Trust uses these lists for the solicitation of donations. Recipients can ask to be removed from these lists by mail, phone, or e-mail request to the Trust.

Security Of Your Information

The Trust takes the following measures to ensure that information collected on the Trust’s website and through other methods is kept secure and is used as intended:

  • All data is stored on secure, protected servers either at the Trust offices or those of business partners that support our online donation and e-mail outreach programs.
  • Data is accessible only by authorized Trust and partner staff.
  • Sensitive data, such as credit card and other financial information, is collected on secure forms and transmitted using industry-standard Secure Socket Layer encryption (SSL) technology through our website.
  • The Trust takes precautions to protect credit card information. Users who prefer not to use credit cards for online donations can complete the Trust’s mail-in and fax donation form available on the website, or call the main office in Southampton at 631-283-3195.
