CCE Farm Supervisor at 4-H Camp Farm

The Associate Farm Supervisor will be a working supervisor who develops and oversees all aspects of the Dorothy P. Flint 4-H camp farm, including livestock, growing vegetables, fruits and herbs, managing farm workers, seasonal staff and volunteers.

Prepare and maintain operating budgets. Hire, evaluate, and supervise employees. In collaboration with the Camp Specialist, and Camp Facilities Manager evaluate animal enclosures, farm buildings and grounds to ensure they are safe for use according to local and accreditation codes. Develop farm safety and training programs so that staff, volunteers and campers are adequately trained in the handling of chemicals and equipment used. Market produce and other products from farming operation, supervise equipment repair and modification.

Assist Camp Specialist with the development of an overall sustainable farm production plan, including but not limited to crop rotation, composting and pest management recommendations. Perform special projects as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and 4 years of experience or High School Diploma and technical school course work and 6 years of experience.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Meet acceptable background check standard.
  • Experience working in a team environment AND demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Farm planning experience and working knowledge of farm infrastructure.
  • Experience working with farm machinery.
  • Interest in working with youth and youth programs.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Valid NYS driver license and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Screen.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (weekends, holidays and evening hours, as needed).
  • Ability to work in inclement weather (snow, sleet, and ice storms).
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including, but not limited to, lifting fifty (50) pound bags of feed and bales of hay. Push full wheel barrows, and carry 5 gallon (40#) water buckets and feed to animals over uneven terrain, ice, mud.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master Degree and 4 years of experience.
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Basic carpentry skills.
  • Must be comfortable driving and operating farm equipment.
